Bengal and Assam tea sector estimated a loss of Rs 2,100 crore due to lockdown

Indian tea sector has estimated loss of Rs 2,100 crore in Assam and Bengal due to lockdown. This is based on the price recovered in 2019 North India tea auctions. These two north Indian tea producing states contribute over 80% to India's national yield. The plantation sector has requested government for a multidirectional financial package to come out of the crisis.
