Apple production may halve due to unseasonal rains, snowfall; import restrictions to keep prices up

Unseasonal rains, snowfall, and low temperatures in April have affected the apple crop in India's Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir regions, with growers expecting production to drop by half from last year's level. Prices of apples grown in the country are likely to remain firm as the government has put a cap on import of apples from Iran at Rs 50 per kg.
