Govt likely to set a minimum export price for basmati rice, sources say

India is considering implementing a floor price for basmati rice exports, following a halt to non-basmati white rice shipments. The floor price could be set at $1,200 per metric tonne to prevent non-basmati rice from being exported as basmati rice. India and Pakistan are the exclusive producers of premium basmati rice, with India exporting approximately 4 million metric tonnes to countries including Iran, Iraq, and the United States.
