Amid uptick in prices govt cuts stock limit for wheat traders, wholesalers to 2,000 tonnes

The Indian government has decided to reduce the stock limit on wheat traders, wholesalers, and big chain retailers from 3,000 tonnes to 2,000 tonnes due to an increase in prices. The government had previously restricted these players to a stock limit of 3,000 tonnes until March 2024. The decision to further reduce the limit was made following a 4% increase in wheat prices on the NCDEX to Rs 2,550 per quintal in the past month.
